RODDY MC DOWALL

Né le 17 septembre 1928 à Herne Hill, Londres (Angleterre). De son vrai nom Roderick Andrew Johnny Jude McDowall, son père était un marchand marin et sa mère a toujous voulu être dans des films.Il a été enrolé pour une course d'elocution à l'age de 5 ans et à 10 ans, il apparaît dans son premier film "Murder in the family" (1938), il joue le rôle de Peter Osborne, le plus jeune frère de ses soeurs jouées par Jessica Tandy et Glynis johns. Sa mère transportait Roddy et sa soeur aux Etats-Unis au début de la deuxième guerre mondiale ou il obtient une partie du rôle deHuw, le plus jeune enfant des mineurs Welsh dans le film de William Wyler, "How green was my valley" (1941), ou il joue avec Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O'Hara et Donald Crisp, dans le film, lequel gagna l'Oscar du meilleur film de l'année.
Roddy partit vers d'autres rôle d'enfants, dans "Flicka" et jusqu'à "Lassie". A 18 ans, il déménagea pour New-York ou il joua une longue série de rôle à succès à Broadway, incluant Shakespeare au festival Stratford du Connecticut. En plus de faire beaucoup de films (plus de 150), McDowall joua à la télévision, il développa une vaste collection de films et de mémoire, et publia 5 livres de ses propres photos. Il mourût dans sa maison de Los Angeles le 3 octobre 1998 à l'age de 70 ans des suites d'un cancer. Ses cendres furent dispersées dans l'océan pacifique.
